Essential sign-in cookies

When you sign in, we use session cookies to keep you securely logged in and help your account work properly. These cookies are necessary for the service you request.

• Sign-in session (names starting sb-) — keeps you signed in. Set only when you sign in.
• Sign out when the browser closes (settlein-session-only) — set only when you untick “Keep me logged in”, so your sign-in ends with the browser. It holds no information about you and lasts until the browser closes.
• This browser created the account (settlein-signup) — set when you create an account, so the confirmation link is trusted in the browser you signed up in. It holds your account’s identifier, signed, and expires within a week.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. If you block these ones, you won’t be able to sign in, but the public pages still work.

Swiss law (Telecommunications Act Art. 45c) requires us to tell you what we store on your device and why, and that you can refuse. Everything on this page is needed to deliver what you asked for, which is why there is no banner.

Stored in your browser, not a cookie

• Your answers while you build a plan (settlein-onboarding-draft, in this tab’s session storage) — keeps the six questions filled in if you refresh the page. It stays in this browser tab and is gone when you close it. Nothing is sent to us until you tick the boxes and create your account.
• Your empty-apartment checklist (settlein-empty-apartment-v1, in this browser’s local storage) — keeps your ticks, notes, prices and your own sections for when you come back. It stays in your own browser and nothing is sent to us. “Start over” on the checklist clears it, and so does clearing this site’s data in your browser.

When you pay

• Stripe checkout — when you pay, you complete checkout on Stripe’s own pages. Stripe sets its own cookies there, covered by Stripe’s privacy policy.

What we don’t use

No advertising cookies

We don’t use cookies to track you for advertising.

No embedded social media trackers

Instagram content on our pages is displayed as images served from our own server, rather than embedded Instagram posts.

Privacy-friendly analytics

We don’t run analytics on this site today. When we switch them on, we will use Plausible Analytics, which is designed to measure website usage without using cookies, and this section will say so.

We don’t display a cookie banner, based on our current configuration. If we introduce technologies that require consent, we’ll update this page and request consent where required.
